Very nice temple up in the mountains. In the top souvenir shop you can buy your own Daruma and get your note of fortune. You can either take it back home or as many leave it there for luck.

勝尾寺は勝運信仰で有名。六代座主、行巡が清和帝の病を祈祷で治し、お喜びになられた天皇が「ここはまさに王に勝った寺、勝王寺である。」と命名したが、寺側はあまりに畏れ多いと「王」を「尾」に控え「勝尾寺」と称する様になったとか。以来、「勝運の寺」として広く信仰され、古くは源氏、足利氏ら歴代の将軍や武将達が勝運を祈った。 縁起の良い「勝ちダルマ」と睨み合いましょう。

西国二十三番。勝運の仏様には仕事柄ぜひあやかりたいものだ。広い敷地の中、随所にダルマがいるが、よく手が届くなと感心する場所にあるダルマも多い。そんな楽しみもここを参拝する楽しみの一つとしたい。

紅葉が綺麗です。足場はよく整備されているので、スニーカーで無くても、少々弱っていても大丈夫かな。難を言えば、駐車までの時間かな。

勝運の寺。奈良時代創建。本尊十一面千手観世音菩薩の真言宗。名は、清和天皇の玉体安隠に効果あったことより、勝王寺の称号を賜る。　以後、清和源氏系の幕府の将軍の信仰が厚い。西国札所23番。
