The site of one of the Hudson's Bay Company outposts built in the arctic, opening 1937 and closing 1948; other end of Bellot Strait. We are in pre-Cambrian granite country now, 2-3 billion years old, the collision point of ancient continents and a world away from the day-before-yesterday limestone mud flats of Victoria and the glacial outwash of King William islands.
