Knocknakilla stone circle (3) by JulieK (thanks for 7 million views)
Happy Fence Friday! Adjacent to the main stone circle (see my album below) is this 10-stone, 3.5-metre diameter, radial cairn which was first discovered during peat cutting excavations in 1970. The whole site dates back to the Bronze age approximately 3500 years ago <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knocknakilla" rel="nofollow">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knocknakilla</a>
As you can see the peat bog here is very wet with Sphagnum moss underfoot. Mushera Mountain in the distance is the highest peak in the Boggeragh mountains, it stands 642m tall, 501m above sea level.
